Regretful and sad sale of my last home bred. My work/business commitments take up most of my time and I am no longer in the horse breeding game.
Flo has enjoyed a super successful competition career, highlights including:
Champion | 4yo NSW Young Horse Championship Final at the 2022 Sydney CDI
Top 10 | 5yo 2023 Australian Young Horse Dressage Championships
Score highlights of 84% 4yo YH, 79.6% 5yo YH, 75% Official Novice, 72.4% Official Prelim.
Since birth Flo has been professionally raised, managed and produced but for Flo, life in a professional Dressage barn is not her jam.
This maybe an opportunity for a capable rider with interests in or a training regime that encompasses a diverse range of activities that goes beyond schooling Dressage in an arena all the time. For example, trail ride, jumping, xc course, gymnastic work in the arena (think Ingrid Klimke style) as well as Dressage schooling.
Dressage wise, Flo is schooling all the Medium work and has changes down to 2 times. Flo has been jumping and went super, displaying great form and boldness over a professional jump course with a rider who has never ridden her before. Flo would also be a stand out as a Large Hunter Hack at National level shows, being a big mare that has a lot of presence.
Flo is the epitome of a chestnut mare, opinionated, super smart, she lets you know how she feels and what she is thinking🙂 In saying that she is not mare-ish when in season, but she can be like that ‘annoying sister’ that is always on the go, into everything within her reach, but does genuinely want to be friends with other horses and humans. Professional dressage life means she has always had caring humans around her but not that special person to dote on, reflecting on the quote ‘Once you have won a mare’s heart, you have won all of her’.
Flo’s high performance pedigree would make her a significant addition to a Sport Horse breeding program, she has never been bred but could be bred this breeding season to carry or as an embryo donor mare. With Sezuan being gelded a couple of years ago, frozen semen is becoming scarce and expensive at around $5,650 AUD for a single insemination dose, therefore limiting the number of Sezuan progeny available.
Flo does itch during the Summer and requires sand maintenance. Flo is fit and healthy, in full work but is still shedding a winter coat so is still slightly hairy.
